About Me

My photo
After we've completed a house, it's amazing how many people say "Isn't it great how it all came together!"... as if by accident. This is a very small look into how it all "comes together".

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to you all!
I hope you're all having a wonderful break.

We visited family and friends in the Hinterland and the Sunshine Coast.
The weather was beautiful.
It's always nice to get away from it all and head to the farm.
The kids caught frogs, chased cows, built fires and toasted marshmallows.
It's great to be able to let the kids run free and just be kids.
I grew up in the country and as much as I like living in the city,
I feel sad that my kids won't grow up with the same freedom as I did.

When we go to the farm my father-in-law 'Shakey' gives us the cabin
and sleeps in this caravan which he renovated.
It's very retro.

It is so important to have (old or new) things in your home
that tell a story about you, bring back memories,
or just make you smile.
Make sure you look outside your window too...

For my city slickers, it's the simple things that make them happy.
Master R. was chuffed that he'd built and lit this fire all by himself!
(Last year his left index finger was de-tipped with a hammer,
so this was a big thing for him :)

He and B. toasted a whole bag of marshmallows.

After the Easter Bunny delivered hundreds of eggs,
we went to 'Happy Valley' to celebrate a friend's birthday.
There were lots of beautiful Pandanus trees
We would love to live near the beach!

One day.....

We had a very relaxing few days
and came home to go to the ANZAC day march.
It always makes me teary.

LEST WE FORGET

Onwards & Upwards

 We have stairs!
They will be slightly darker when stained
It took 10 men to install them.
I think they look fantastic... very happy!

The flooring arrived today too..... it's all happening!
We are using Blackbutt panels again because we LOVE them!
We use them in all of our own houses.
We used a gloss finish in the Sugarcube however,
due to the West aspect here we will use a satin finish.
I really don't fancy oily mopping them everyday.

This is a client's house in the same street
A. did the exterior colour scheme. I think he missed his calling!
He is a printer... so he does know a 'little' about colour ;)
I worked with the client today on the Interior Colour scheme/tiles and Cabinetry.
She is having a black kitchen with a White Statuario Marble benchtop
and Charcoal Bathrooms with 'Zeus' cabinetry and Carara Marble benchtops.
Very bold & I think (I hope) it'll look great.

The kids are enjoying the holidays playing with cardboard boxes
and in treehouses

Welcome to my newest follower Virginia from
Her blog is full of inspiration and is well worth a look.

Let's hope for sunshine tomorrow :)

Lights...action!

The sun was shining the day I went to direct the pendant lights installation.
We haven't seen many sunny days here in the Sunshine State for the past 6 months,
so a sunny day is much appreciated!
The river even looked Blue!!
And look at our tree.
She's loving the rain even if we're not.
The electricians had 4 moooi lights to put up.
1 large, 2 medium and 1 small.
This is the Large One
Note: the marble wall is complete and looks really, really good!
It's very reflective, which is great as this hallway is quite narrow
(and will be even more so when the stairs go in)
This is the underside of the bridge with shadowline.
Our plasterer is so neat!
How many men does it take to change a lightbulb??
There's no way those plastic bags are coming off yet!
I can't wait to see them lit!!
My kids are on school holidays this week.
It's raining today, so our Seaworld day has been postponed.
Thank God I kept those light boxes...
there's now a cardboard city in our living room :)

I hope you're somewhere dry and warm.

Marble Wall

The broken tiles were doing my head in, so I distracted myself with a visit to
Trekka Imports

I love these rolling pins, especially the magenta ones.
 I love going to Trekka
It's full of treasures.

I LOVE these Chapatti Stamps!
These hooks would look great in the entry
...and you know I'm a sucker for copper pots!
 How amazing are these pilars?!!
This is what I bought from there last time.
It's a side table made from reclaimed timber.
Master R thinks it's a great drum &
A. says, "it doesn't blow my hair back"...
but I like it (and I'm the resident Interior Decorator ;)
We spent the weekend watching A. compete at the Aussies (Australian Surf Life Saving Titles) at Kurrawa. They came 4th in the 160 division, so we were very proud of him!
I told you about how the first batch of Marble was mostly damaged....
Well... the second batch was too..... and then they sent out a third batch with more damaged tiles.
GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!
I spend about 2 hours with the tiler going through each tile to see if it could be used, and then on the phone trying to Convince the Supplier to replace the damaged tiles.
What the????

They'd been packed and handled extremely poorly.
These people clearly have NO respect for Marble!
Eventually we found enough good full tiles to complete the wall
 ...and I have to say
It looks exceptional!!!
(just as well!)
The house is looking handsome too and I'm really falling in love with it
Have a great weekend!
