About Me

My photo
After we've completed a house, it's amazing how many people say "Isn't it great how it all came together!"... as if by accident. This is a very small look into how it all "comes together".

Castel St'Angelo, Castel Gandolfo & Anzio

Castel St'Angelo is on the banks of the Tiber.
It's not an overly touristy place.
I'm not sure why as it's really stunning... especially late in the afternoon.

This photo is one of my favourites

Wouldn't you just love a house like this?!
It's the imperfections that make it so beautiful.

He's ignoring me!

We went back to Castel St'Angelo a few times
(it was in our hood just like the Vatican)

We ventured out of Rome to Castel Gandolfo
which is the Pope's Summer House
and it just so happened that we were there on the right day!!!

We were ushered into the courtyard with about 200 others
for the blessing of "Ferragosto" which is a holiday in Rome
and the start of the holidays for most Italians.
So if you want to see the Pope close up,
go to Castel Gandolfo on the 15th of August!

I'm not religious but I was pretty starstruck!

The Village itself is really beautiful

I'd love this 'Vino' sign for my deck!

From there we drove to Anzio
a fishing village about 40minutes out of Rome.
This was the beach where the Allies landed in World War II

The colours here are amazing.

I love that light!

The kids had no idea it was a history lesson!

Their report cards this semester may not be too crash hot,
but as I school teacher I believe that what my kids gain
from travel is invaluable.

I have taught Secondary Art, Geography, History, Mathematics & Drama
and travel covers all of the key learning areas.
I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering taking their kids
out of school for a few months.

  4. Which one Jodie?

    Definitely not this one :(
Maybe not even next one at this rate... MrB still hasn't programmed the cbus for downstairs (keeps working on his cars instead :(
Still haven't decided on window furnishing (type nor colour). Very indecisive I am :(
