About Me

My photo
After we've completed a house, it's amazing how many people say "Isn't it great how it all came together!"... as if by accident. This is a very small look into how it all "comes together".

Let's focus on the positive

These are the Bocci lights that will be going above one end of our kitchen bench.

I can't wait to see them installed. They are beautiful lights.
If I was rich I would have had them above the dining table too.

I need to try and focus on the positives today.

Remember the cascade grey tiles I've been waiting for for about 3 months?
Today the last 8 were hand delivered by the sales rep.
4 of them were cascade grey (see right),
and 4 of them were something completely different (see left)

Can YOU spot the difference?????

I mean... come ON!! You cannot be serious!!
Do I LOOK like an idiot???
The tiler thought I handled it very 'calmly',

BUT if 4 of the correct tiles aren't delivered in the next hour......
Trust me... there'll be nothing calm about me!!!

The cabinet makers also like to take their time with our houses
....and they also like to put doors on back to front!

The cupboards on the right are correct,
the pull down cupboards along the middle
have been put on the wrong way.

It's taken us about 5 months to get these ones,
so I wonder how long it will take to get the replacements?

Don't get me started...
A. says he's built this house 2 or 3 times over.
I believe him now.

I'm supposed to be packing but my phone keeps ringing!!

I hope you'e having better luck today than I am :)

  1. I'm sitting here shaking my head. My builder hubbys coming to the end of an Architect designed project that has caused untold stress for similar reasons. It seems that some companies just can't do their jobs. Blind Freddy would see those tiles are just WRONG! Staying with the positive though, those light fittings look spectacular. I think sometimes budget constraints make you edit purchases with far more thought than an open cheque book would. I reckon those lights will look all the more 'special' and be of greater value (personally and visually) because they're not repeated. Keep your chin up - the end is in sight!!!

  2. Yes, definitely focus on the positives. If you didn't, you would just see incompetence everywhere you looked!! Gorgeous lights for your kitchen by the way. xx

  3. Thanks KL & Brismod,
I was actually surprised at how calm A. was when he saw the cupboards too. All he said was, 'I'm not surprised'. I'm sure that as soon as we are sitting on our deck with glass in hand the recent stress will be a distant memory (atleast, that's what I'm hoping:)

  4. Ugh, just a slight difference in those tiles. Betting the Sales Rep was wishing he hadn't hand delivered them!!!!

The lights are gorgeous, and I love your cabinetry (even with the wonky doors)!

Repeat after me: 'I will be on the deck with my glass of wine within weeks. I will be on the deck with my glass of wine within weeks.'
