About Me

My photo
After we've completed a house, it's amazing how many people say "Isn't it great how it all came together!"... as if by accident. This is a very small look into how it all "comes together".

Shiplap Love

Happy Monday Everyone!

More Cedar Shiplap Cladding has gone onto the house
and I have to say I'm loving it!
It only has one coat on it, so after 3 coats it's going to be a beautiful colour.
It's the first time we've used it.
(and I suspect you will see it again on our spec. house which is starting next year)
I love timber and I think that it brings warmth to a modern home.

I walked upstairs today and was surprised to see lights!!
At least I know that if we move in and the house isn't finished
we have electricity:)
We have tried to minimise downlights in this house
and are using LED strip lighting, pendants and lamps (and a few downlights)

The Roof System was completed today too.
(my apologies... this is from Vanguard, not Vergola...
my head is so overloaded at the moment!!)

We visited SPACE yesterday to buy our  XL ecosmart fire place

...and couldn't resist this Giorgetti coffee table.

Our curtains and blinds are ready!
The curtain ladies are asking me when I want them?
About 2 days before we move in please :)
I can't wait to see the curtains,
I'm really happy with the fabric which is a grey linen/poly/cotton.
It looks very organic and as soon as I saw it I knew it was 'the one'.

Have a great week!

Inside, Outside

It's always nice to see a light at the end of the tunnel!

We have now started to think about moving in.
As well as furniture, interior colours, etc.

In Vogue Living I saw a lot of similar schemes & finishes to ours.
Veneer & White Kitchens, Charcoal Walls,
Timber flooring & splashes of colour like Green and Pink.
When I quickly flick through my masses of home magazines I must retain more than I think?!

We decided to use some Shiplap Timber Cladding (Red Cedar)
on some areas of our house.
We are really happy with how good it looks
and how well it goes with our other colours.
 It also smells divine!

The floors are getting sanded and polished next week
and the modwood decking will commence (it's all about timber next week!!)

...and speaking of timber... part of our kitchen has been installed

 The rock wall is finished.
I'm so in love with it!

The Vergola Roof system frame and rain sensors were installed too

...and the pool fence!

The Exterior Painting is almost complete

...and the driveway is powering along!

....it's all moving quite quickly now,
maybe I should start packing??

We are all getting very excited about moving in!!

I hope you're all having a great weekend!!

Full Speed Ahead!

I am definitely getting plenty of exercise with all of this house running around!

I can't remember the last time
I just sat on the lounge and read a magazine...
I have so many that I've bought and not had time to read
We have just completed a renovation
that we have been working on for a client for the past 9 months.
I looks great.

Meanwhile... at the house
It's changing by the hour!

The Cabinetry is arriving by the truckload.
Our hallway cupboards went in
and I made an executive decision to ditch the handles
and use touch catches instead.
Our Wardrobe arrived too.
It's made out of a Walnut Laminex
(as it was almost double the price to do it in the veneer
we are using in the kitchen and bathrooms)

The shutters were also installed to the side of the house.
These are movable shutters on a sliding frame.
The Wall is finished and the Stonemason is grouting now
and will start on the driveway today.
It looks sooooo good!

They got half way through the grouting,
then in true Queensland fashion the rain came down!
I swear there was a cup of water in every raindrop!
The sky is blue at the moment, so hopefully it will stay that way :)

Got to Run... we are moving office today
(just because we have nothing else to do ;)

Reasons to Love Rock

I hear that the Stonemason has almost completed our Rock wall.
I can't wait to see it!

You all know that I have a bit of a natural stone obsession.
Yes, it's a costly one...
but I don't buy designer clothes, shoes, sunglasses or manicures,
so I figure I can go over budget every now and then to have Stone in my house.

We are drawn to seaside & rocky places for our vacations
and if I end up up places like Positano.... it's for research purposes ;)

This was in 2007
We will be there again in 12 weeks!!
One of our favourite restaurants in Positano

 Capri

 The Green Grotto, Capri

 Vespa in Capri
Everything looks cool against a rock wall!

Crazy Pave at the Amphitheatre in Pompeii
stands the test of time

There are whole villages made of stone in Tuscany

The Cinque Terre
 Another favourite rocky place.
Mama Mia... look at that water!!!

Manarola, Cinque Terre

 Riomaggiore

 Monterosso, Cinque Terre.

 Portovenere
(between the Cinque Terre & La Spezia)
Stunning Place!
Marble, Limestone, Sandstone, Granite....... I love it all!!

 Please leave your comments below...
I'd love to hear what your favourite material is.

Have a great week!!
