About Me

My photo
After we've completed a house, it's amazing how many people say "Isn't it great how it all came together!"... as if by accident. This is a very small look into how it all "comes together".

My house has Eyebrows!

I was very excited to see that one of the eyebrows has been built!
This also means that... the windows can be sealed & the painting can be completed,
then the Scaffolding can come down. The 'Scaff' has cost us a small fortune and feels like it's been up for years!

This my dear folks, is an "eyebrow"

The front of the house looks a little bit plain at the moment
however, when the vertical fins are installed it will look more architectural
(that's the plan anyway)

The plasterers have almost finished the inside
That's the landing.
It will look more relevant once the stairs have been built.
Our tiler is coming next week to tile the staircase wall with Pietra Grey Marble.
(Then the stairs will arrive)
I can't wait!
I'm also nervous climbing the ladder...
especially wearing a maxi skirt & sandals and carrying my camera
The house is very light,
even with plastic on the windows & surrounded by scaffolding.
Look at those angles!!
It took a lot of hard work by the Mr to get them looking so handsome.
He should high five himself!

I'm meeting with the Cabinet Maker tomorrow to finalise colours, handles, appliances, etc.
I'm really struggling to find a handle for the kitchen.....
I'm just not feeling the love...

We are having timber veneer cabinets everywhere and I've been seeing all of these pictures of 'no-handles' (and I'm loving it.)

It looks great but I've been told it's not a practical option,
also Adam is not into the idea.
I'd love some ammunition (I mean feedback about it). Please...

On a lighter note...
Some friends & I were treated to lunch at a girlfriend's newly renovated house
and the food was divine.
Happy International Womens Day!

  3. Hi Jodie. Nice to meet you and thank you for your lovely comments... Some times I am never too sure who's reading what I publish so your kind words really made my day :)

I see you are building locally, I hope everything is running smoothly for you and will keep an eye on your progress. It's so nice to see a local house being blogged about!

    Have fun. Lisa

  4. Thanks for following and for your comments B & Lisa!
That's OK to call me Josie, B... I answer to both!
I can certainly take some photos of my laundry for you if you like. The best thing about my current laundry is that I have 2 washing machines. I'd recommend that for anyone who has the space.

Thanks for following too Lisa. I know what you mean... sometimes I wonder if anyone is reading my blog... which is why I really appreciate comments such as yours.

  5. Jodie, do you mind me asking where you got your marble ensuite tiles from? They are stunning! (As is your whole house) :)

  6. Hi B,
I am always happy to share. I'm glad you like them. I think they're stunners too. Are you talking about my tiles for the new house or the ones used in the sugarcube?
The new ones are a 'multi-grey' from Marble Plus. They're available in an Antique finish, honed or polished in varying sizes.
The Sugarcube ensuite was done in 'Silver Pearl' again from marble plus. Hope this helps :)

  7. Thanks so much for that Jodie!!!

I was talking about the ones used in the sugarcube, but I just saw the ones you chose for your new house and love those too! Can't wait to see your new house :)

By the way, thanks for visiting my blog :)
We will be painting the outside of the door gloss black and white on the inside. Not sure which "white" we will go for yet. Do you have any suggestions? What colours do you normally paint your internal doors, skirtings, architraves, door frames?

  8. A gloss black door will look great B!!
As far as whites go, we've used quite a few however, our favourite is called 'Pegasus' by PPG. It has a touch of black in it, so it's not too white (and not too warm).

  9. Look forward to seeing your current and past laundries Jodie :)

Is Pegasus a two pack paint?

  10. Just took some pics for you, stay tuned :)
Will add the new one in the coming weeks.

Pegasus can be 2 pac. It's a little hard to find a sample. You may need to call the PPG head office and ask them to send you a fan deck or samples. PPG own taubmans, etc. so once you get a sample you can get it through any paint shop. If you have any trouble getting hold of a sample, let me know.
    Goodluck!
